Antonio Vivaldi’s RV 447 is an oboe concerto in C major, part of his extensive body of concertos for woodwind instruments. While not as famous as his violin concertos or works like The Four Seasons, RV 447 is notable for its contribution to the oboe repertoire during the Baroque period. It is one of at least 17 oboe concertos attributed to Vivaldi, written to showcase the instrument’s expressive range and technical virtuosity.

Like many of his concertos, RV 447 follows a three-movement structure (Allegro, Andante/Largo, Allegro), blending lyrical melodies with energetic, fast-paced passages.

The original manuscripts of Vivaldi’s works, including RV 447, are part of the Foà and Giordano collections housed in the Biblioteca Nazionale in Turin, Italy. These collections were rediscovered in the 20th century, revealing numerous unpublished works by Vivaldi, including his oboe and bassoon concertos, which reflect his ability to compose music that is both technically challenging and deeply expressive.
